Stevie Wills – Cerebral Palsy

By Stevie Wills

For over a decade Stevie has advocated for the inclusion and empowerment of people with disabilities. She has engaged audiences through her powerful performance poetry, speaking and writing. Stevie draws from her lived experience of disability, explores the value of inclusion and outlines practical steps that communities can take. You can hear Stevie share her story here:

I have Cerebral Palsy, that impacts my movement. I have reduced fine motor skills, and my speech isn’t as clear. When I was seventeen, I started going to church, and through singing the songs, I learned to love God and to receive his love for me.

I have had to learn my worth is in who I am and not what I can do for God.

What I’d love to say to pastors and church leaders is that disability inclusion is not driven by pity or duty. It is driven by a desire for all people to be part of your community. People with disabilities face barriers to being all that we can be.

That is why I passionately advocate for inclusion and empowerment of people with disabilities.
